In Theo's bedroom we mainly have story books, which he will choose for bedtime and has a little space under his raised bed for getting comfy and looking at books in. We also have what I like to think of as our little reference section downstairs in our living room. These are all of our books on space, nature, geography, animals and anything sciencey related! He's very much into countries and landmarks (especially Paris!) at the moment and we love looking through books like Maps and Atlas of Adventures together. I'm not sure if he is particularly bothered yet, but a book with beautiful illustrations will always win me over, and I hope that he'll come to appreciate them as much as the stories too. We've already picked up a few for his Christmas presents and I've asked my family to select a book or two off my wishlist instead of getting any toys (as he has enough!)
The beauty of books is that I feel they can last forever. I can clearly remember my favourite books from my childhood, some of which have been passed down to Theo, and I can remember the stories more than I can remember playing with certain toys. I love that as the child grows so can their understanding of the same book change and grow as well as being able to start reading them for themselves.
I would love to see any other books that are missing from my collection or wishlist if you have any favourites of your own!
